With Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Year’s quickly approaching, there may be one gift to give that you haven’t yet considered: the gift of health. Since learning about autism and food allergies, I received a real life crash course on healthy eating. More recently, as Amy and I have faced our own health issues, our views on what healthy eating means continues to grow. Our journeys to better health have allowed us to connect with you by growing organic produce at Peace of Heart Farm and inviting you in to help be a part of this farm to table experience while providing a venue to connect persons with autism to the community. This is yet another example of how something painful can be turned into something beautiful.
At the checkout of the locally owned organic grocery store I frequent, I am always reminded that clean food costs more! I realize that not everyone can afford this lifestyle choice and I am grateful I can afford this investment in my health and the health of my family. It is just that: an investment.
Peace of Heart Farm’s community raised bed garden is a gift of health that will give all year long! You will not only be giving a gift; you are investing in your health and that of your loved ones while providing a meaningful farm to table enrichment program for you and our group home-mates. Rent a bed for year and just Imagine receiving 4 organically grown heads of lettuce each week, these beauties would run $4 or more at the local grocery store. Your investment will benefit your family’s health and budget all while making our community a better place to live for families living with autism.
Please become a community partner with us this holiday season by renting a raised bed and giving the gift we all need: the gift of health. It may just be the perfect gift for the person who has everything!
